General Info

Koon Thai Restaurant, located at 5475 Gateway Village Cir #102B, Orlando, FL 32812, is the kind of place that leaves a lasting impression for anyone seeking authentic Thai flavors. From the moment you step inside, the inviting aroma of spices sets the stage for a dining experience that feels both warm and elevated. The restaurant is family-run, with the chef hailing directly from Thailand, ensuring every dish carries genuine tradition and heartfelt preparation.

One of the most talked-about highlights on the menu is the 3 Flavor Curry, often praised as one of the best in town. Its balance of sweetness, tang, and heat creates a depth of flavor that feels almost Michelin-level in execution, but still comes at very reasonable prices. The Pineapple Fried Rice is another star, served in a generous portion that bursts with freshness and a subtle sweetness from juicy pineapple, perfectly paired with savory notes of rice and seasonings. It’s the kind of dish people come back for just days later because it’s truly unforgettable.

For those who enjoy Thai classics, the Pad Thai never disappoints. Noodles are cooked to the right texture, infused with tamarind, peanuts, and a delicate balance of sweet and savory. The Papaya Salad brings a refreshing crunch with just the right level of spice, making it an ideal contrast to the richer dishes. Spring Rolls, crispy on the outside and packed with flavor inside, add another satisfying touch to any meal. Portions across the menu are generous, making it a perfect choice whether dining solo or with a large group.

Another must-try is the Spicy Basil Fried Rice with Chicken, a dish that combines bold seasoning, fragrant basil, and tender chicken. The flavors meld so well that it feels comforting yet exciting at the same time. Even when the restaurant is busy and the wait may take a little longer, the quality of the food proves worth every minute. Guests often describe the food as soul-satisfying, with a freshness and moisture in every bite that elevates even the simplest fried chicken to something memorable.

Koon Thai Restaurant manages to combine homestyle authenticity with a touch of fine-dining flair, creating a balance that few places achieve. With attentive service, authentic recipes, and dishes that deliver both comfort and sophistication, it’s no surprise many call it the best Thai restaurant in the area.

MICHELIN QUALITY DISHES for the best prices in town 3 flavor curry: best I've ever had Pineapple fried rice: indescribable delicious A MUST TRY!!! Update!! Came back 6 days later for another try! -Pad Thai (forgot to take a pic) -Papaya salad -Pineapple Fried rice (again!) -Spring rolls! ALL AMAZING! ”

“ This place has a good selection from noodles, to pad Thai, to lunch specials. They offer differing drinks- alcoholic and non alcoholic. The food was very good, and you can even pick your spice level! They had lots of indoor seating and the place wasn’t super busy when we went. We would be back if in the area again! ”

“ It was my Birthday and wanted Thai cuisine. Normally we always went to the same local … but this time decided to explore other well rated restaurants. Koon Thai was 15min, and made it by 7:40… got seated and placed order for starters and the guy was so pleasant. And within 10-15min got the starters and at the same time placed the entree. That came just in time after we finished the starters. We were so impressed with our vege dumplings , and crispy Tofu. Plus they made our papaya salad minus the fish sauce! I absolutely loved the yummy red curry, and Penang curry. The basil rice was yummy as well as the pad thai noodles. For a vegetarian / vegan they had so many options and all dishes were full of robust flavors that were not overpowering. Everything was fresh. We will definitely be visiting Koon Thai again! ”

“ Grabbing a quick bite with a big group of seven children and teenagers and five adults. It was on a weekday around lunch time so it wasn't busy. We were seated immediately. It was a husband and wife team, and a wife is from Thailand and was the main cook. We found a portions of you quite generous and the food overall very tasty. We had a great experience ”

“ For my personal experience here, The food we ordered was really good. The was kind of long but for the quality of food I must say it was worth it. I ordered the spicy basil fried rice with chicken and the flavors were so wonderful in my mouth. I have never experienced this type of food before but I must say this will not be my last time eating here. Everything blended together so well that it was like food to my soul. I highly recommend this place for anyone that loves authentic pad or even have never tried it. You would not be disappointed. I can't remember the name of the other dishes that's pictured in my review but I did try the chicken. It was fried and my only thought to it was it could have been seasoned just a little bit more. But the moisture was there. The texture was there as well. I hope you guys enjoy ”

“ I came for dinner and there weren't many guests. I hope it's because it's a fairly new restaurant. It is very good. The ambiance is very casual such that when I walked in, I thought that there was no table service and I had to order at the counter. However, there is friendly table service. Matt was awesome. He was very attentive. The food came out quickly, and was very hot. The massaman curry is delicious. This restaurant is also within walking distance of several hotels. Unfortunately, my flight was canceled and I had to spend the night in Orlando unexpectedly. It was great to have something other than a chain restaurant to choose from so close to my hotel. Also, I noticed, as I was paying at the counter that they have games like Uno, Dominoes and Checkers if you want to entertain yourself or the kids. ”

“ Wonderful Pad Thai! As you can see from my page, I LOOOOOVE AUTHENTIC PAD THAI! This is my current GO-TO SPOT! This beautiful restaurant fills my heart with joy and my belly with fresh, delicious food. I recommend the crispy spring rolls and the krab rangoon. The krab rangoon is SO creamy and sweet (no freezer taste)—SO GOOD that my grandma asked for another order! The service here is WONDERFUL and FAST! I feel WELCOMED every time my family and I come here! If you're craving flavor, freshness, and feel-good vibes—this is THE spot! Don’t walk… PAD THAI! ”

“ I've eaten at over 200 Thai restaurants across the country, so I have a lot of experience with this type of food. What Was Good The food quality was excellent. I had the Tom Yum soup, which was delicious and had big pieces of mushrooms. The basil chicken was also very tasty. My friends ordered the Pad See Ew, and they liked its light sauce and good flavor. The food itself, and how it looked, was five stars. What Wasn't So Good However, a couple of things weren't great. The place felt more like a fast-food spot than a nice restaurant. Also, they didn't bring our food out at the same time. There were five of us, and everyone got their meal at different times, which was annoying. Overall Thoughts To sum it up, the food was amazing, but they could definitely improve the feeling of the restaurant and how they serve the meals to groups. ”
