General Info

Koon Thai Restaurant, located at 5475 Gateway Village Cir #102B, Orlando, FL 32812, is the kind of place that leaves a lasting impression for anyone seeking authentic Thai flavors. From the moment you step inside, the inviting aroma of spices sets the stage for a dining experience that feels both warm and elevated. The restaurant is family-run, with the chef hailing directly from Thailand, ensuring every dish carries genuine tradition and heartfelt preparation.

One of the most talked-about highlights on the menu is the 3 Flavor Curry, often praised as one of the best in town. Its balance of sweetness, tang, and heat creates a depth of flavor that feels almost Michelin-level in execution, but still comes at very reasonable prices. The Pineapple Fried Rice is another star, served in a generous portion that bursts with freshness and a subtle sweetness from juicy pineapple, perfectly paired with savory notes of rice and seasonings. It’s the kind of dish people come back for just days later because it’s truly unforgettable.

For those who enjoy Thai classics, the Pad Thai never disappoints. Noodles are cooked to the right texture, infused with tamarind, peanuts, and a delicate balance of sweet and savory. The Papaya Salad brings a refreshing crunch with just the right level of spice, making it an ideal contrast to the richer dishes. Spring Rolls, crispy on the outside and packed with flavor inside, add another satisfying touch to any meal. Portions across the menu are generous, making it a perfect choice whether dining solo or with a large group.

Another must-try is the Spicy Basil Fried Rice with Chicken, a dish that combines bold seasoning, fragrant basil, and tender chicken. The flavors meld so well that it feels comforting yet exciting at the same time. Even when the restaurant is busy and the wait may take a little longer, the quality of the food proves worth every minute. Guests often describe the food as soul-satisfying, with a freshness and moisture in every bite that elevates even the simplest fried chicken to something memorable.

Koon Thai Restaurant manages to combine homestyle authenticity with a touch of fine-dining flair, creating a balance that few places achieve. With attentive service, authentic recipes, and dishes that deliver both comfort and sophistication, it’s no surprise many call it the best Thai restaurant in the area.

“ Grabbing a quick bite with a big group of seven children and teenagers and five adults. It was on a weekday around lunch time so it wasn't busy. We were seated immediately. It was a husband and wife team, and a wife is from Thailand and was the main cook. We found a portions of you quite generous and the food overall very tasty. We had a great experience ”

“ I've eaten at over 200 Thai restaurants across the country, so I have a lot of experience with this type of food. What Was Good The food quality was excellent. I had the Tom Yum soup, which was delicious and had big pieces of mushrooms. The basil chicken was also very tasty. My friends ordered the Pad See Ew, and they liked its light sauce and good flavor. The food itself, and how it looked, was five stars. What Wasn't So Good However, a couple of things weren't great. The place felt more like a fast-food spot than a nice restaurant. Also, they didn't bring our food out at the same time. There were five of us, and everyone got their meal at different times, which was annoying. Overall Thoughts To sum it up, the food was amazing, but they could definitely improve the feeling of the restaurant and how they serve the meals to groups. ”
